Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-24

This Privacy Policy explains how Poop Tracker (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use:

  • the Poop Tracker iOS application (the “App”), and
  • our website and support pages, including the Support & feedback form (together, the “Services”).

We have kept this short and written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, please reach us through the Support & feedback page.

1. Quick summary

  • Your log entries stay on your device and your private iCloud. We do not see them.
  • There are no accounts, no logins, and no developer-controlled servers for your journal data.
  • To handle the Pro subscription, our payment provider receives a small amount of purchase information from Apple. We use this only to grant your subscription and restore it on your other devices.
  • We do not show ads, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.

2. Information we do not collect from the App

Poop Tracker is intentionally designed so that we do not collect your log entries, notes, tags, or any personal information about you when you use the App. Specifically, we do not:

  • Ask you to create an account or sign in.
  • Store your name, email address, or contact details in any backend we control.
  • Send your log entries, notes, or tags to any server we operate.
  • Build personal profiles or track you across other apps or websites.
  • Show advertisements or share data with advertising networks.

3. Where your log entries actually live

All entries you log (timestamp, Bristol type, amount, tags, optional notes) and your app preferences are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you are signed into iCloud, those entries also sync to your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit so they are available across your own iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Your iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and stays inside your iCloud account. We do not have any access to that data and cannot read, export, or restore it for you. If you sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud sync for Poop Tracker in iOS Settings, syncing stops and entries remain only on the device where you logged them.

4. Subscription processing

Poop Tracker offers a paid “Pro” subscription that unlocks Analytics, CSV / PDF export, and unlimited custom tags. To handle subscriptions, restore purchases on new devices, and verify your Pro status, we use:

When you start, restore, or change a subscription, the following limited information is shared with RevenueCat by Apple and by the RevenueCat SDK inside the app:

  • An anonymous app-user identifier generated for your install (a random ID — not your name or email).
  • Your device's vendor identifier (Apple's IDFV — a per-vendor identifier that does not let us track you across other developers' apps).
  • Purchase metadata such as product identifier, transaction ID, price tier, country, and renewal / expiration status.

This information is used only to grant the Pro entitlement on your devices, validate receipts, restore purchases, and keep accurate billing state. It is not used for advertising and we do not link it to any other personal information. We never receive your credit card or payment card details — those stay with Apple.

5. App Store privacy summary

On the App Store, Poop Tracker's privacy summary lists the following data types as collected by our subscription provider:

  • Identifiers — Device ID (used for App Functionality, linked to your subscription).
  • Purchases — Purchase History (used for App Functionality, linked to your subscription).

Neither category is used for tracking across third-party apps or websites. They exist only so the app can unlock Pro and restore purchases on your devices.

6. Information you choose to provide when you contact us

When you use the Support & feedback form, you can choose to share basic contact information so we can respond, including:

  • Your name (optional).
  • Your email address.
  • The subject and content of your message.

We use this only to understand your message and reply. We do not use support messages for marketing campaigns, and we do not sell or share them.

7. Information from app stores and operating systems

Apple shares with us high-level, aggregated statistics about installs, crash summaries, and similar technical information through App Store Connect. This is provided by Apple's own dashboards and does not give us direct access to your name, contact details, or anything that identifies you personally.

8. Data retention

Because we do not run our own user accounts or databases for the App, we do not keep records about individual users of the App itself. Your log entries are retained on your device and in your iCloud for as long as you keep them — you can delete entries or remove the app at any time.

Support messages you send through the Support & feedback page are kept in our email inbox for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and keep a basic history of past issues. If you want a specific support message deleted, contact us and we will review and act on that request where possible.

Subscription data held by RevenueCat is retained according to their own retention policy.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited information we handle. Your in-app data is protected by iOS sandboxing on device and by Apple's CloudKit security in iCloud. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information.

10. Children's privacy

Poop Tracker is not designed for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us using the support page so we can review the situation.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights under local data protection laws (for example GDPR in the EU/UK or CCPA in California). Because we collect very little information directly, many of these rights are limited in practice, but you can:

  • Delete your log entries at any time from inside the app, or delete the entire app.
  • Disable iCloud sync for Poop Tracker in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud.
  • Manage or cancel your subscription from iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or via the “Manage subscription” link in Settings inside the app.
  • Ask us what information we have about you from support requests, and ask us to correct or delete it where appropriate.

If you contact us about your privacy rights, we may ask for a small amount of information to confirm we are speaking to the right person before we act on your request.

12. Not a medical product

Poop Tracker is a personal wellness journal, not a medical device or a substitute for professional advice. Nothing in the App is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Always consult a qualified professional for decisions about your health.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how Poop Tracker handles information, please reach us through the support form so we can keep all requests in one place.

Visit the Support & feedback page and send us a short message describing your question.
